Methaq car insurance is Shariah-compliant motor cover from Methaq Takaful Insurance Company, a UAE Takaful insurer operating since 2009 and regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE. It is sold in two forms — comprehensive and third-party — and both can be quoted, bought and paid for online through Lookinsure without visiting a branch.
Methaq's own 24/7 hotline and roadside assistance number is 600 565 695. You can compare car insurance quotes online in Dubai from Methaq alongside other UAE insurers before you buy.
Methaq Takaful car insurance is motor cover written under Takaful principles, which means contributions are pooled and managed in line with Shariah rather than held as conventional premium. For the driver, the policy behaves like any other UAE motor policy: the same Unified Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy wording applies, the same third-party limits are enforced, and claims follow the same police-report process. The difference is in how the fund is structured, not in what you are covered for.
The company trades as Methaq Takaful Insurance Company and is also searched for as Meethaq, Mehtaq or Al Methaq insurance. All refer to the same UAE insurer.
Methaq's motor line covers two products and a defined set of benefits. Comprehensive covers your own vehicle as well as third-party liability; third-party covers only the damage or injury you cause to others. Everything below is drawn from the policy schedules quoted through Lookinsure in August 2026 — limits vary by plan, so check your own quote before buying.
| Benefit / Add-on | What It Means | Availability |
| Third-party liability | Covers damage or injury caused to others | Included on both products, as per policy terms |
| Own damage cover | Covers damage to your insured vehicle | Comprehensive only |
| Fire and theft | Covers vehicle loss or damage due to fire or theft | Comprehensive, up to vehicle value |
| Roadside assistance cover | Breakdown and emergency recovery support on 600 565 695 | Included on comprehensive |
| Personal accident cover | Protection for driver, passengers and family members | AED 200,000 each on the quoted comprehensive plan |
| Windscreen cover | Covers eligible windscreen damage | Comprehensive, for claims under AED 2,000 |
| Emergency medical expenses | Covers eligible emergency treatment costs | Ambulance services covered up to AED 6,770 |
| Personal effects | Covers eligible belongings inside the vehicle | Comprehensive, up to AED 2,000 |
| Oman extension | Extends the geographical area to Oman | Available on selected plans — confirm on your quote |
| Replacement car | Temporary replacement vehicle after an eligible claim | Optional or limited, depending on plan |
If you drive into Oman, the Methaq geographical extension is separate from the orange card required at the border. Check what your policy actually covers before travelling, and read how to get an orange card for Oman if you need one.
Choose comprehensive if your car is financed or worth more than about AED 30,000, because third-party will not pay a dirham towards your own vehicle. Choose third-party only if the car's market value is low enough that you would absorb the repair cost yourself.
| Feature | Methaq Comprehensive | Methaq Third-Party |
| Third-party bodily injury | Unlimited, as per the Unified Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy | Unlimited, as per the Unified Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy |
| Third-party property damage | Up to AED 2 million | Up to AED 2 million |
| Own car damage | Covered, subject to policy terms | Not covered |
| Fire and theft | Covered up to vehicle value | Not covered |
| Storm, flood, riot, and strike | Covered up to vehicle value | Not covered |
| Roadside assistance | Included | Included on the quoted plan |
| Personal accident benefits | AED 200,000 for driver, passengers and family | Not covered |
| Ambulance cover | AED 6,770 | AED 6,770 |
| Best for | Drivers who want protection for their own vehicle | Drivers who only need mandatory legal coverage |
The same split applies at every UAE insurer, so it is worth understanding the two products in general before comparing brands. Lookinsure covers each in depth on its comprehensive car insurance and third-party car insurance pages.
Methaq quoted the cheapest comprehensive premium of the three insurers below and the middle third-party premium. Quotes are for a 2025 Mazda CX-90 (Methaq and Sukoon) and a 2024 GMC Sierra (Orient), pulled in August 2026. Your own figure will differ with car value, driver age and claims history.
As a rough check on any comprehensive quote: Methaq's AED 2,392.80 premium on an insured value of AED 132,935 works out at 1.8% of the vehicle's value per year. UAE comprehensive premiums generally sit between roughly 1.5% and 3% of market value, so a quote far outside that band is worth questioning.
| TPL Comparison Point | Methaq | Sukoon | Orient |
| Basic premium | AED 1,050 | AED 830 | AED 1,120 |
| Third-party bodily injury or death | Unlimited | Limit set by UAE Courts | Unlimited |

| Personal accident driver benefit | Not covered | Up to AED 200,000 | Not covered |

| Personal effects | AED 2,000 | Up to AED 5,000 | N/A |
| Roadside assistance | Included | Included in Gold Plan | Included |
On these quotes, Methaq wins on comprehensive. It is AED 1,386 cheaper per year than Sukoon and AED 1,394 cheaper than Orient, and it still includes AED 200,000 personal accident cover for the driver, passengers and family members, roadside assistance, windscreen cover and emergency medical expenses. Take Methaq if you want Takaful cover, the lowest comprehensive premium, or the broadest personal accident protection.
Take Sukoon car insurance instead if you need the cheapest third-party policy at AED 830, GCC-wide cover including Qatar, or higher limits on third-party property damage and personal effects. Take Orient car insurance if you want a AED 3.5 million property damage limit and can do without personal accident benefits.
Methaq's weak points are real and worth naming: its third-party property damage limit is AED 2 million against AED 3.5 million at both rivals, its personal effects cover is AED 2,000 against Sukoon's AED 5,000, and its third-party product carries no personal accident benefit at all.
Methaq is not the only Shariah-compliant motor insurer in the UAE, and premiums between Takaful operators vary as much as they do between conventional insurers. If Takaful is your reason for choosing Methaq rather than price, it is worth quoting Noor Takaful car insurance and Yas Takaful car insurance at the same time.
Methaq applies the standard UAE motor exclusions. The most common reason a claim is rejected is that the driver was not legally entitled to drive the vehicle at the time.
| Common Exclusion Area | What It Means |
| Driving without a valid license | Claims may be rejected if the driver is not legally allowed to drive |
| Driving under the influence | Accidents involving alcohol or drugs are typically excluded |
| Intentional damage | Deliberate damage is not covered |
| Using the car outside policy terms | Commercial, racing, or off-road use may be excluded |
| Wear and tear | Mechanical wear, depreciation, and gradual damage are not covered |
| Undeclared modifications | Modified vehicles may require insurer approval |
| Own damage under TPL | Third-party insurance does not cover your own vehicle damage |
Important: always check the final policy wording before purchase, because exclusions and limits vary by selected plan.
| Situation | Documents Usually Needed |
| Existing or used car | Emirates ID, driving license, vehicle registration (Mulkiya), previous policy if available |
| New car | Emirates ID, driving license, showroom quotation or vehicle details |
| Transfer of ownership | Transfer documents depending on the case |
Requirements shift slightly with vehicle status, insurer checks and policy type. The full list of documents required for car insurance in the UAE covers the edge cases, including non-GCC specification vehicles and newly transferred ownership.
Buying takes about two minutes once you have your vehicle details to hand. The policy is issued after payment and insurer approval.
| 1 | Enter your car and driver details | Lookinsure checks available quotes |
| 2 | Compare Methaq with other insurers | Review price, benefits, and add-ons |
| 3 | Choose your preferred policy | Select the option matching your budget and needs |
| 4 | Upload required documents | Submit the details needed for policy issuance |
| 5 | Pay online | Complete payment securely |
| 6 | Receive your policy | Policy is issued after payment and insurer approval |
Eligible Methaq policies bought through Lookinsure can be split into four interest-free payments at checkout. You pay a quarter today and the remaining three instalments over the following weeks, with no interest added.
Both options are available at checkout: pay for car insurance with Tabby or pay for car insurance with Tamara, subject to approval by the provider.
| Coverage Type | Total Policy Price | First Payment Today | Remaining Payments |
| Third-party insurance | AED 1,050 | AED 262.50 | 3 × AED 262.50 |
| Comprehensive insurance | AED 2,392.80 | AED 598.20 | 3 × AED 598.20 |
Renew before the expiry date on your current policy, not after it. A UAE vehicle cannot be re-registered without valid insurance, and a lapsed policy means you are driving uninsured and exposed to fines from day one.
Renewal through Lookinsure works the same way as a new purchase: enter the vehicle details, compare the Methaq renewal quote against other insurers, and pay online or in instalments. Renewal is also the natural moment to check whether Methaq is still your cheapest option — no-claims history and vehicle depreciation both move the number year to year, and the insurer that was cheapest last year often is not this year.
To confirm a policy is active before or after renewing, you can check your car insurance status online using your Emirates ID or vehicle details.
Start every Methaq claim with the police report. Without it, a UAE motor claim cannot proceed, regardless of insurer or fault. Call Methaq on 600 565 695 to register the claim once you have it.
| Situation | What to Do |
| You have comprehensive Methaq insurance | Get the police report, register the claim on 600 565 695, and follow the approved repair process |
| You have third-party Methaq insurance | Damage to others is covered as per policy terms; your own vehicle damage is not covered |
| Another driver caused the accident | Get the police report and claim against the at-fault driver's insurer |
| The other party is insured by Methaq | Claim against Methaq as the at-fault insurer, using the police report to establish liability |
Own-damage claims under comprehensive depend on your policy excess and the circumstances of the accident. The step-by-step Methaq car insurance claim process guide covers the documents, timelines and inspection stages in full.
Methaq operates a single 24/7 number for the hotline, roadside assistance and vehicle recovery: 600 565 695. There is no separate recovery line to look up.
| What You Need | Contact |
| 24/7 toll-free hotline | 600 565 695 |
| Roadside assistance and recovery | 600 565 695 |
| Claims registration | 600 565 695 |
| Motor insurance enquiries by email | [email protected] |
| Complaints and suggestions | [email protected] |
Roadside assistance is included on comprehensive policies and on the quoted third-party plan. It covers breakdown support and recovery, not repair costs — those follow the normal claim route.
After an approved claim you will usually be directed to a garage within Methaq's approved network, which allows the garage to bill the insurer directly instead of asking you to pay and reclaim. Agency repair is available on comprehensive policies, typically for newer vehicles, and is worth confirming on your quote if your car is still under manufacturer warranty.
Methaq's approved garages span Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Al Ain. The full directory, with addresses by city, is maintained on the Methaq approved garage list.
Methaq operates branches in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain. All three share the same 24/7 hotline, 600 565 695, and the same working week.
| Office | Address | Working Hours |
| Abu Dhabi | Liwa Tower, ADNEC area | Mon–Thu 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Fri 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM |
| Dubai (head office) | Mohamed Bin Rashid Charity Building, Office 312, 3rd Floor | Mon–Thu 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Fri 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM |
| Al Ain | Khalifa Street | Mon–Thu 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Fri 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM |
You do not need to visit a branch to buy or renew. If you want a policy that is issued and paid for entirely online, get a car insurance quote and compare Methaq against every other insurer on the panel before you commit.
