ADNIC car insurance is the motor insurance line of Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company, a UAE insurer founded in 1972 and regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE. It sells comprehensive and third-party cover for private cars across all seven emirates, with agency repair periods, roadside assistance and a replacement car attached to the higher tiers.
This page sets out what each ADNIC tier actually covers, how claims and renewals work, and where ADNIC's offices and hotlines are — then lets you compare car insurance quotes online against every other insurer on Lookinsure before you commit.
One quick disambiguation, because the two are routinely confused in search: ADNIC is the insurer. ADNEC is the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, an unrelated venue operator. If you searched for ADNEC car insurance, this is the page you wanted.
ADNIC car insurance is a motor policy issued under the UAE's Unified Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy, the standard wording the Central Bank of the UAE requires every licensed insurer to follow. That standard sets the floor: third-party property damage is covered to a minimum of AED 2,000,000 on every UAE motor policy sold, including ADNIC's cheapest tier. Everything above that floor — agency repairs, off-road cover, a replacement car, personal belongings — is what separates one ADNIC tier from the next, and what you are actually paying for when you move up the range.
ADNIC is a conventional insurer, not a Takaful operator. If you specifically need a Shariah-compliant motor policy, that is a different product from a different company — Watania car insurance and Methaq car insurance are the Takaful options to compare against ADNIC on Lookinsure.
ADNIC sells its motor cover in tiers rather than as a single product, and the tier you pick decides three things above all: how long you keep agency repairs, whether off-road damage is paid, and how many days of replacement car you get. The table below puts all four options side by side, including the mandatory third-party tier that most comparisons leave out. For the wider choice between tiers, see how comprehensive car insurance differs from third-party car insurance in the UAE generally.

Platinum is the tier to take if your car is financed, still under manufacturer warranty, or regularly driven off sealed roads. It is the only ADNIC tier that pays off-road damage without a separate extension, which matters in the UAE more than most markets — wadi driving and dune tracks are ordinary weekend use here, and a standard policy will decline the claim outright. It is also the tier with five years of agency repairs and the highest third-party ceiling at AED 5,000,000. If you drive a 4x4 on anything other than tarmac, read what 4x4 and off-road cover actually pays for before you decide the extension will do instead.
Gold keeps agency repairs for three years and lifts third-party property damage to AED 3,500,000, but moves off-road cover to a paid add-on. It is the sensible tier for a car two to four years old that has come off warranty but is still worth repairing at the dealership. Key replacement stays included at this level, which Standard drops.
Standard is still a comprehensive policy — your own car's damage is paid — but agency repairs last one year, personal belongings are capped at AED 2,000, and off-road and key replacement are both out. Windscreen and window damage is the one thing it keeps that drivers most often claim on, and windscreen cover is worth understanding separately because it usually sits outside your normal excess.
Third-party liability is the mandatory minimum in the UAE and covers damage you cause to other people and their property, up to AED 2,000,000. It pays nothing towards your own car. Choose it only if the car is old enough that its market value is below what a year of comprehensive cover costs.
Across the comprehensive tiers, ADNIC pays for accident damage to your own vehicle, fire and theft, natural events such as flooding and storm damage, third-party injury and property damage, and personal belongings left in the car up to the tier limit. Emergency medical expenses and driver personal accident cover sit as extensions rather than defaults. If you carry laptops, tools or equipment in the car routinely, check the tier caps against what personal belongings cover is worth buying separately — the built-in limits are modest.
These are the standard exclusions under the Unified Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy, and they apply whichever ADNIC tier you hold. None of them is negotiable at claim stage.
Add-ons are where an ADNIC policy is actually tuned to how you drive, and two of them are worth more than drivers expect. A lost transponder key on a modern car routinely runs into four figures to recode, which is why car key replacement cover pays for itself on one claim; and although ADNIC roadside assistance is included on every comprehensive tier, the scope of roadside assistance cover varies enough between insurers that it is worth comparing what you are entitled to before you need it at 2am on E11.
Where your car gets repaired is decided by your tier, not by you. While your agency repair period is still running — five years on Platinum, three on Gold, one on Standard — ADNIC repairs at the manufacturer's authorised dealership. Once it lapses, the car goes to a garage in ADNIC's approved network instead, and the difference shows up in parts: agency repairs use manufacturer parts, network garages often do not. This is the single most common source of post-claim disappointment in the UAE market, and it is worth checking the approved UAE insurance garage lists for your emirate before you renew, not after an accident.
The sequence below is fixed by UAE law, not by ADNIC — the police report comes first, and no insurer in the country can settle a motor claim without it. Report the accident before you move the vehicle unless it is blocking traffic. Our step-by-step guide to how to file a car insurance claim covers the paperwork in more detail if this is your first UAE claim.
Settlement time in the UAE depends far more on the repair queue than on the insurer's approval, which is why headline turnaround figures are misleading. Approval on a straightforward own-damage claim with a clean police report is typically same-week; the car then waits for parts, and an agency repair on an imported model is where weeks disappear. What genuinely moves your timeline is covered in our guide to how long a UAE claim takes to settle.
Your excess is the fixed amount you pay towards every own-damage claim, and it is deducted regardless of fault. Two things surprise ADNIC customers here. First, the excess is paid to the repairer, not deducted from a payout. Second, a single accident can attract more than one excess — a separate young-driver or unnamed-driver excess stacks on top of the standard one if the person driving fell outside the policy terms. Before you choose a tier on price alone, read what car insurance excess means in practice, because a lower premium with a higher excess is often the worse deal.
Buying through Lookinsure needs the same document set as buying direct, and all of it can be uploaded during the quote.
Handling your ADNIC car insurance online renewal through Lookinsure rather than accepting the insurer's renewal notice has one concrete advantage: the same car is quoted across every insurer on the panel at once, so you see whether ADNIC is still the right price for you this year rather than only what it costs. Renew before the expiry date — a lapse of even a day resets your no-claims history with most UAE insurers, and the no-claims bonus in the UAE is usually worth more than any introductory discount. Start by pulling fresh car insurance quotes about three weeks before renewal.
You can cancel an ADNIC motor policy mid-term, but the refund is not a simple pro-rata calculation. UAE insurers apply a short-period scale, so cancelling six months into a twelve-month policy returns materially less than half the premium, and any claim made during the period removes the refund entirely. Cancellation also requires proof that the vehicle has been sold, exported or insured elsewhere — you cannot simply leave a registered car uninsured. Sell the car mid-policy and transferring the cover to the new owner is often worth more than cancelling it.
ADNIC runs its claims and recovery lines around the clock and its branch counters on standard UAE business hours, roughly 8:00am to 4:00pm. These numbers were verified in September 2026.
ADNIC operates thirteen offices across the UAE, and the pattern of where they sit is worth knowing before you drive to one. Most ADNIC branches are not standalone insurance offices — they are counters placed inside Abu Dhabi Traffic Police vehicle inspection centres and ADNOC service stations. That means you can usually arrange or renew cover at the same site where the car is being tested or registered, in one trip rather than two.

The distribution tells you something about the insurer: eleven of the thirteen offices are in Abu Dhabi emirate, with one counter each in Dubai and Sharjah. ADNIC is an Abu Dhabi insurer with national reach rather than a nationally distributed one, which is fine for a product notified and settled by phone — but it does mean a walk-in visit is realistic only inside Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
Where you drive also changes your premium, because accident frequency and repair costs vary between emirates. ADNIC car insurance in Abu Dhabi, where the company is headquartered, typically prices differently from the same cover bought elsewhere, so it is worth comparing car insurance in Abu Dhabi against car insurance in Al Ain on an identical car before you assume the quote travels.
Note that ADNIC's 800 8040 line is for notifying your insurer, not for the emergency itself. If anyone is injured, call 999 first — our list of UAE accident emergency numbers has the police, ambulance and recovery lines for each emirate in one place.
A comprehensive premium arriving as a single annual charge is the main reason UAE drivers downgrade their cover, and it does not have to. Buying an ADNIC policy through Lookinsure lets you split the premium at checkout: pay for car insurance with Tabby across four interest-free payments, or spread it further with Tamara motor insurance installments. The cover starts in full on day one either way — instalments change the payment schedule, not the policy.
As a UAE market rule of thumb, a comprehensive premium runs roughly 1.25% to 3% of the car's current market value per year, so a car valued at AED 80,000 generally insures somewhere between AED 1,000 and AED 2,400 depending on tier, driver age and claims history.
Choose ADNIC Platinum if your car is financed, under warranty, or driven off-road — the included off-road cover and five-year agency repair period are genuinely hard to match at the tier price. Choose Gold if the car is two to four years old and you still want dealership repairs. Look elsewhere if you need a Takaful policy, or if your car's market value has fallen below roughly AED 20,000, at which point third-party cover from any insurer is the rational choice. The honest test is always the same quote run across the whole market, so compare UAE car insurance providers on identical cover before you renew with anyone.
