Al Ain Ahlia Insurance Co. (PSC) is a UAE composite insurer founded in 1975, headquartered in Abu Dhabi and listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange since December 2000. Its motor line covers private cars, commercial fleets and cross-border travel, and its third-party property damage limit is AED 2,000,000 — the standard set by the UAE's Unified Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy.
One point worth clearing up first: Al Ain Ahlia is the name of the insurer, not a product limited to Al Ain city. The company writes policies across all seven emirates from branches in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah, Mussafah and Al Shamkha. If you arrived here looking for cover in that city specifically, car insurance in Al Ain is the page you want.
The company is written several ways in the market — Al Ain Al Ahlia Insurance, and shortened to Al Ahlia car insurance — and all of them refer to this same Abu Dhabi insurer.

Al Ain Ahlia writes four motor products. Two are the standard UAE private-car options, one covers cross-border driving, and one is built for businesses.
Covers accidental damage to your own vehicle as well as damage to third-party vehicles and property, plus injury to third parties and passengers. Agency repair is available subject to conditions, off-road assistance is included, and a replacement car can be added as an optional benefit. This is the plan to choose if your car is financed, still under warranty, or worth more than roughly AED 30,000 — the repair bill on a single at-fault collision will usually exceed several years of premium difference. Read how comprehensive car insurance works across the UAE market before you commit.
The legal minimum in the UAE. It indemnifies you against compensation you owe for death or bodily injury to other people — including your passengers — and for damage to third-party property up to AED 2,000,000. It does not cover your own vehicle, and it does not cover the at-fault driver's own injuries. That last exclusion catches people out, so read it carefully. Third-party car insurance makes sense for older, low-value cars where the annual premium saving is material against what the car is actually worth.
The Orange Card is a unified Arab-country insurance scheme required when you drive a UAE-registered vehicle into another Arab state. It covers third-party liability under the law of whichever country the accident happens in, not under UAE law. Al Ain Ahlia issues it as a standalone product. If you are planning a border crossing, our guide on how to get an Orange Card for Oman walks through the paperwork and timing.
A corporate product for businesses insuring multiple vehicles under a single policy and a single renewal date. Al Ain Ahlia lists it alongside its property, marine, engineering and aviation lines. If you are insuring a small commercial vehicle rather than a fleet, commercial car insurance is the closer fit.
A comprehensive Al Ain Ahlia motor insurance policy responds to four broad categories of loss.
Collision and accidental damage — repairs to your own vehicle after a collision or rollover, with agency repair available subject to the policy conditions and the vehicle's age.
Fire and theft — loss of the vehicle where it is stolen and not recovered, and damage caused by fire.
Third-party liability — death and bodily injury to other people including your passengers, and third-party property damage up to AED 2,000,000.
Off-road assistance — recovery support when the vehicle is stuck off the tarmac, included as part of the comprehensive product rather than sold separately.
Several benefits that buyers assume are automatic are in fact optional on most UAE policies, Al Ain Ahlia included. A replacement car during repairs is an add-on, not a standard inclusion. So, typically, are personal accident cover for the driver and passengers, windscreen cover with a waived deductible, and loss of personal belongings cover for items taken from inside the car. Confirm which are on your schedule before you assume you have them.
Two more add-ons are worth pricing if your driving pattern calls for them. 4x4 car insurance extends cover to desert and dune driving, which a standard policy will not pay for. Engine protection cover picks up mechanical and electrical failure, which is otherwise excluded outright.
No UAE motor policy pays for everything. These exclusions are standard across the market and apply to Al Ain Ahlia policies as they do to every other insurer's.
Illegal use — driving under the influence, racing, and driving without a valid licence.
Mechanical and electrical breakdown — clutch, gearbox and engine failures not caused by a collision, unless engine protection has been added.
Wear and tear — tyre degradation, battery decline, and gradual deterioration.
Undeclared modifications — turbochargers, lift kits and other changes not reported to the insurer.
War, terrorism and nuclear events, including riot and civil commotion.
The at-fault driver's own injuries under a third-party liability policy.
Exclusion wording differs in the detail from insurer to insurer, and the details are where claims get declined. Our breakdown of car insurance exclusions in the UAE covers the clauses that cause the most disputes.
File your Al Ain Ahlia motor claim directly with the insurer, not through a broker or comparison site. Al Ain Ahlia runs its own motor claims intake and its own claims team, and going direct is faster. Al Ain Ahlia states that claims are typically resolved in 15 to 30 working days.
Report the accident to the police immediately and obtain the official report. In the UAE this report is not optional paperwork — it establishes fault, and without it a motor claim will not proceed. Note the colour of the report you are issued, since it determines who pays.
Call +971 2 611 9999 or email [email protected] to intimate the claim. Al Ain Ahlia also operates a dedicated online motor claim intimation portal and the AAIC mobile app, either of which will register the claim without a phone call.
The insurer will ask for the completed claim form, the original police report, the vehicle registration card, your driving licence and Emirates ID, and repair estimates from approved garages. It may request further information while it investigates.
Al Ain Ahlia assesses the damage and, for complex losses, appoints a loss adjuster. Repairs are carried out at an approved workshop; agency repair applies only where your policy and vehicle age allow it. Checking the UAE approved garage list before you commit to a workshop avoids a rejected invoice later.
Settlement typically lands within 15 to 30 working days. If you are unhappy with the outcome after Al Ain Ahlia has responded, you can escalate to the Central Bank of the UAE or to Sanadak, the UAE's independent insurance and banking ombudsman.
The mechanics of fault, timing limits and documentation are the same whichever insurer you are with. For the full sequence, see how a car accident insurance claim works in the UAE.
Which number you call depends on what has happened. The main switchboard will not dispatch a recovery truck.

The IMC number covers breakdown recovery, jump-starts and towing where your policy includes the benefit. If yours does not, roadside assistance cover is inexpensive to add at renewal and is the add-on people most regret skipping.
Al Ain Ahlia operates a mix of full-service branches and traffic-department counters, the latter placed inside or beside registration centres so policies can be issued at the point of vehicle registration.

The weight of the network sits in Abu Dhabi emirate, which is where the company was founded and where most of its motor book is written. Buyers based elsewhere should compare it against insurers with a denser local presence — start with car insurance in Abu Dhabi if that is where your vehicle is registered.
You can complete an Al Ain Ahlia insurance online renewal without visiting a branch. There are two routes, and they suit different buyers.
Renew directly with Al Ain Ahlia — through the AAIC mobile app or the insurer's online portal. Fastest if you are happy with your existing cover and simply want the same policy for another year.
Renew through Lookinsure — enter your vehicle and licence details once and see Al Ain Ahlia's quote next to competing UAE insurers before you decide. Renewal is the only moment in the year when switching costs you nothing, which makes it the right moment to compare car insurance quotes in Dubai online rather than auto-renewing.
Whichever route you take, you can spread the premium instead of paying it in one go. Both car insurance with Tabby and car insurance with Tamara split the cost into four interest-free instalments, and the policy certificate is issued immediately either way.
That last document is the one people leave behind, and it is the one that saves money. A clean claims record earns a discount at renewal, but only if you can evidence it — see how the no-claim bonus is calculated and carried between insurers.
Al Ain Ahlia is one of three long-established Abu Dhabi motor insurers, and buyers shortlisting it usually end up weighing the same alternatives. ADNIC car insurance is the larger of the three by motor volume and has the broader digital service layer. Al Wathba car insurance competes most directly on price in the Al Ain and Western Region markets.
Premiums between them can differ by a wide margin on identical vehicles, because each insurer weights driver age, claims history, vehicle value and repair type differently. If a quote looks high, what affects a car insurance premium in the UAE explains which of those levers you can actually move.
Choose Al Ain Ahlia if your vehicle is registered in Abu Dhabi emirate, you value a branch you can walk into, and you want an insurer with 51 years of continuous UAE underwriting and a Moody's A3 financial strength rating behind the policy. The traffic-department counters in Abu Dhabi, Mussafah and Al Ain make registration-day issuance genuinely simple.
Look elsewhere if you are in Dubai or the Northern Emirates and want a dense branch network, if you need a fully app-first buying experience with instant online quotes at every step, or if price is your only criterion — Al Ain Ahlia rarely prices at the bottom of the UAE market, and its strength is balance-sheet stability rather than aggressive rating.
