New India car insurance is the motor cover that The New India Assurance Company Ltd sells through its branches in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah. The company was founded in 1919 and is India's largest non-life insurer.
In the UAE it offers comprehensive and third-party policies for private cars, commercial vehicles and fleets of six or more, with optional add-ons ranging from agency repair to off-road cover.
This guide covers what New India Assurance car insurance includes, the roadside assistance numbers, where the offices are, and how claims and renewals work. Everything is taken from New India's own UAE and group websites, checked on 17 September 2026. When you're ready to price a policy, compare car insurance quotes from New India and other UAE insurers in one place.
New India Assurance car insurance is a UAE motor policy written by the Emirates branches of an Indian general insurer, not by a local UAE company. The cover itself follows the UAE's standard motor wording. What changes is the insurer behind it: its offices, add-ons, roadside provider and claims desk.
The New India Assurance Company is a Mumbai-headquartered general insurer, majority-owned by the Government of India, and operates in 25 countries. It describes itself as the largest non-life insurance company in India. In the UAE it runs branches rather than a locally incorporated company. The Dubai office handles Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and a separate team covers Abu Dhabi.
New India's ratings are CRISIL AAA with a stable outlook and, from AM Best, a financial strength rating of B++ (Good) with a stable outlook, as listed on its UAE company profile in September 2026. CRISIL's AAA is an Indian national-scale rating, so it isn't directly comparable with the international ratings UAE-incorporated insurers publish. All insurers operating in the country, including foreign branches, are licensed and supervised by the Central Bank of the UAE.
New India is often confused with another Indian state-owned insurer that has a Dubai branch. That insurer's UAE motor business has been in run-off since August 2025 and can no longer issue or renew policies, as explained on our Oriental car insurance page. New India's UAE branches still sell and renew motor policies, and its website lists online purchase and claim reporting. The branches also write non-motor business, which has its own claims desk in Abu Dhabi.
New India Assurance motor insurance comes in three forms: comprehensive, third-party liability, and fleet comprehensive for businesses. Private cars and all types of commercial vehicles are eligible.
New India's comprehensive car insurance pays for damage to your own car as well as your liability to other people. New India lists five causes of own-damage loss as covered:
Storms and floods aren't in that list. New India's own pages don't agree on them: its motor product page sells natural calamities as an optional add-on, while its plans article lists them under comprehensive cover. Check that natural calamities appear on your schedule before the rainy season.
New India's third-party car insurance is the legal minimum in the UAE. It covers death or bodily injury to other people, including your passengers, and damage to their property, but never repairs to your own car. It's the cheaper policy, and New India doesn't offer add-ons on it. If you're searching for third-party car insurance online from New India Assurance, that's the policy you're buying.
Businesses with six or more vehicles qualify for New India's fleet comprehensive policy, which can also be set up as third-party only or as a mix of the two. Single vans, pick-ups and trucks are insured individually under commercial vehicle insurance. New India states that all types of commercial vehicle are eligible.
| What you need | Comprehensive | Third-party liability |
|---|---|---|
| Repairs to your own car | Yes | No |
| Injury to other people and their property | Yes | Yes |
| Theft and fire of your car | Yes | No |
| Optional add-ons | Available | Not available |
| Meets the UAE legal requirement | Yes | Yes |
| Premium | Higher | Lower |
Pick by the car's situation, not the price alone:
New India publishes seven optional covers for its comprehensive policies. They're priced separately and appear on your schedule only if you choose them.
The three covers most UAE drivers add are the weather, desert and breakdown ones. Standard motor policies generally exclude off-road driving, so if you drive dunes at weekends, you need off-road cover for a claim to be paid. See how 4x4 and off-road car insurance works before you head out. After the heavy rains of recent years, car flood insurance is worth adding, because New India's motor product page doesn't list natural calamities as standard. Our guide to roadside assistance cover explains what a recovery add-on usually includes.
Families who regularly drive with passengers should look at personal accident cover. Stone chips are common on highways, so windscreen cover is worth considering if you commute long distances. Agency repair is also an add-on, not a standard feature, so owners of newer or luxury cars should confirm it appears on the schedule.
New India's roadside assistance runs 24/7 through two different providers, depending on the emirate.
In Dubai, call 800 247772 (operated by 24by7).
In Abu Dhabi, call 600 575751 (operated by International Motoring Club).
| Emirate | Roadside number | Provider | Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai | 800 247772 | 24by7 | 24/7 |
| Abu Dhabi | 600 575751 | International Motoring Club (IMC) | 24/7 |
Five services are included when roadside assistance is on your policy:
The service has three limits. It covers private saloons, SUVs and four-wheel drives only, so commercial vehicles don't qualify. It works inside the UAE only. Towing is limited to city limits. A tow after a breakdown doesn't pay for fixing the fault, which is what mechanical breakdown cover is for.
New India Assurance has three offices in the UAE, all closed on Saturdays and Sundays. It doesn't publish a toll-free customer service number. The 800 number people search for is the Dubai roadside line above, so for policy and renewal questions, call the office that issued your policy.

The New India Assurance Dubai office is on Al Mankhool Road and serves Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Its customer care email is [email protected]. If you're comparing car insurance in Dubai or car insurance in Ajman, this is the branch your New India policy is likely to be issued from.
The New India Assurance Abu Dhabi office is in the Tourist Club Area, next to KM Hypermarket, and it runs its own motor claims team. It is also the only branch open on Friday afternoons. Drivers comparing car insurance in Abu Dhabi can walk in for policy questions.
The Sharjah office is in Babel Tower near Qanat Al Qasba. It takes phone enquiries but has no published claims email of its own, so call the office to confirm which claims desk handles your policy. See our page on car insurance in Sharjah for local options.
You can start a New India car insurance claim in one of three ways: take the car to a New India approved garage, email your documents to the claims desk, or ask your insurance broker to register it. Whichever route you choose, a police report comes first.
For policies issued in Abu Dhabi, email [email protected].
For policies issued in Dubai, email [email protected].
New India asks for four documents with every motor claim:
If the other driver was at fault, New India recovers the cost from their insurer. The repair order (LPO) can take up to 72 working hours from the time the other insurer is notified. That is normal, and our guide to how long a car insurance claim takes explains the rest of the timeline. The excess you pay at collection is set in your schedule; see how the deductible works.
Before you drive anywhere, check the approved garage list for New India motor claims. Keep the emergency numbers to call after an accident saved in your phone. For the general process across all insurers, read how a UAE car insurance claim works.
New India names three situations in which no claim is paid, whichever policy you hold:
These are the headline exclusions only. The full list, which includes items such as wear and tear, is in your policy wording, which follows the UAE's Unified Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy. Read it before you rely on an add-on.
You can renew New India Assurance car insurance through New India's own online portal (linked from its UAE website), at the branch that issued the policy, or by comparing a fresh quote on Lookinsure before the expiry date. New India itself advises comparing quotes three to four weeks before renewal.
A clean year counts toward your no-claims bonus, so make sure the discount appears on the renewal quote. If you buy or renew through Lookinsure, you can spread the premium with car insurance with Tabby or Tamara car insurance instalments.
A valid policy is required before renewing your vehicle registration with the RTA, so renew the insurance first. Keep your Emirates ID, licence and Mulkiya to hand. Our checklist of documents required for car insurance covers the rest. If you're selling the car rather than renewing, read about transferring car insurance to a new owner first.
New India's published list of motor add-ons doesn't include an Oman or GCC extension, and its roadside service works inside the UAE only. Before any road trip, ask your issuing office in writing whether your policy covers Oman. If it doesn't, buy an Oman orange card at the border or online.
New India is a strong choice if you want a long-established insurer with walk-in offices in three emirates, fleet capability for six or more vehicles, and 24/7 roadside assistance on private cars. It's a weaker fit if you need GCC cover as standard, roadside help for a commercial vehicle, or customer service outside weekday office hours. Natural-calamity cover and agency repair both cost extra, so compare the fully built price rather than the headline premium. Line it up against all car insurance providers before you renew.
