BMW car insurance in the UAE is a motor policy priced on the specific model, model year and insured value of the car rather than on the badge on the bonnet. That is why a 2009 BMW 320i and a 2025 BMW X2 were both quoted third-party cover for under AED 850 a year on Lookinsure, while comprehensive cover on that same 320i started at AED 1,110.43.
The figures on this page are real quotes returned by Lookinsure's platform, named insurer by named insurer, not market estimates. Use them to see roughly where your own BMW will land, then compare car insurance quotes in the UAE against your own chassis number for an exact price. If the premium lands higher than you planned for, you can split it into four payments and pay for car insurance with Tamara at no added cost.
BMW insurance cost in the UAE is set by the cover level far more than by the badge or the model year. Third-party BMW premiums quoted on Lookinsure ranged from AED 600.00 to AED 892.00 a year across four models spanning 2009 to 2025. Comprehensive cover on a 2009 BMW 320i ranged from AED 1,110.43 to AED 1,300.00. All figures below were quoted on the Lookinsure platform and verified.
Third-party cover is the legal minimum in the UAE and pays for injury or damage you cause to other people, never for damage to your own BMW. These are the third-party car insurance premiums quoted for four BMWs.
| Model | Year | Insurer | Annual premium (AED) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 320i | 2009 | Methaq | 600.00 |
| 320i | 2009 | Insurance House | 630.40 |
| 320i | 2009 | Dubai National Insurance | 693.00 |
| X2 | 2025 | Fidelity United | 800.00 |
| X2 | 2025 | Methaq | 800.00 |
| X2 | 2025 | Dubai National Insurance | 825.00 |
| X6 | 2013 | Tokio Marine | 827.40 |
| X6 | 2013 | Fidelity United | 840.00 |
| X6 | 2013 | Methaq | 840.00 |
| X5 | 2009 | Fidelity United | 840.00 |
| X5 | 2009 | Methaq | 840.00 |
| X5 | 2009 | Tokio Marine | 892.00 |
The same three insurers keep appearing at the bottom of the table. Methaq car insurance quoted the cheapest price on two of the four cars, Fidelity United car insurance matched it on the X2 and the X5, and Dubai National car insurance sat within AED 100 of the cheapest quote on both cars it priced.
Insurance House car insurance slotted between them on the 320i at AED 630.40, and the only quote above AED 850 in the whole set came from Tokio Marine car insurance on the 2009 X5. Within any single car the gap between cheapest and dearest never exceeded AED 93.00, so on third-party cover shopping around a BMW saves tens of dirhams, not hundreds.
Comprehensive cover pays for damage to your own BMW as well as third-party liability, and on a BMW that difference matters more than on most cars because panels, sensors and headlamp units are expensive to replace. These are the comprehensive car insurance quotes returned for a 2009 BMW 320i.
| Model | Year | Insurer | Annual premium (AED) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 320i | 2009 | RAK Insurance | 1,110.43 |
| 320i | 2009 | Adamjee Insurance | 1,300.00 |
| 320i | 2009 | Al Sagr National Insurance | 1,300.00 |
RAK car insurance came in AED 189.57 below the next quote, while Adamjee car insurance and Al Sagr car insurance landed on exactly the same figure. Comprehensive quotes for the X2, X5 and X6 are generated live against the specific chassis, so run those through the quote form rather than working from a published average.
Two patterns fall straight out of the numbers. The first is that third-party premiums barely move with the car: AED 600.00 for a seventeen-year-old 320i and AED 800.00 for a brand-new X2 is a AED 200 gap, because third-party cover prices the damage you might do to someone else, not the value of what you drive. The second is that comprehensive cover on the 320i ran roughly twice its third-party price, which is the ratio to plan around when you budget.
That gap widens as the insured value rises, which is why the model you pick matters far more on comprehensive than on third party. The relationship between a car's age, its market value and its premium is worked through in detail in our guide to how a car's age changes its premium.
BMW's UAE range splits cleanly into the saloons and the X-range SUVs, and the two behave differently at quote stage. Below is what the quote data shows for each, alongside the marques that sit next to BMW on car insurance by make.
BMW 3 Series insurance is the cheapest entry point in the range. The 2009 320i returned the lowest third-party quote of any BMW in this set at AED 600.00 and was the only model to return comprehensive quotes on the platform, from AED 1,110.43. A 3 Series is the BMW most likely to still make financial sense on comprehensive cover well into its second decade, because its insured value is low enough that the premium stays close to the third-party figure.
BMW X5 insurance and X6 cover carried the highest third-party premiums in the set, at AED 840.00 to AED 892.00. Their cheapest quotes were AED 12.60 apart despite four model years between them, which says the insurers are reading body style and engine size here rather than age. Both are heavy, powerful SUVs, and that is what the third-party rate reflects.
The 2025 X2 was quoted AED 800.00 to AED 825.00 third party, less than the 2009 X5. A new compact BMW SUV can be cheaper to cover third party than an older large one, because engine size and body class outweigh model year on a policy that never pays out for your own car. If you drive a MINI as well, that marque sits under the same BMW Group umbrella but is quoted separately — see MINI car insurance.
The best insurance for a BMW is whichever of the two cover levels matches what the car is worth to you today. Choose comprehensive if your BMW is financed, under ten years old, or worth more than AED 50,000 — the repair bill on a single front-end knock will exceed a year of premium. Choose third party if your BMW is older than ten years, unfinanced, and you could replace it out of your own pocket without it hurting.
| Comprehensive | Third party | |
|---|---|---|
| Damage to your BMW | Covered | Not covered |
| Injury or damage to others | Covered | Covered |
| Fire and theft | Covered | Not covered |
| Agency repair | Available on eligible models | Not available |
| Add-ons available | Full range | Limited |
| Quoted price, 2009 320i | AED 1,110.43 – 1,300.00 | AED 600.00 – 693.00 |
Third-party liability is the cover the UAE actually requires, under the Unified Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy issued by the Central Bank of the UAE. Everything above that line is your decision, and the trade-off is set out at greater length in our comparison of comprehensive vs third-party cover.
Agency repair means your BMW is fixed at a BMW-authorised dealer workshop using genuine parts, rather than at the insurer's own network garage. It is the single most requested feature on a premium-brand policy in the UAE, and it is also the one most often quietly absent from the cheapest quote.
Most insurers offer agency repair only on cars under a set age, typically the first two to five years from first registration, and charge a premium loading for it. After that window your BMW moves to the insurer's approved network, where the workshop standard varies considerably between providers. Before you buy, check the specific workshop list attached to the policy — we publish approved garage lists by insurer — and check which of the car insurance providers in the UAE include BMW-experienced workshops in their network.
If you are shopping on price alone, be explicit that you are comparing like with like. A quote with network repair and a quote with agency repair are not the same product, however similar the BMW auto insurance premium looks.
A BMW is an expensive car to repair in small ways, not only in large ones, and that is where car insurance add-ons earn their keep. These six are the ones that most often pay for themselves on a BMW.
Three of these are worth the loading on almost any BMW: roadside assistance cover, engine protection cover and car key replacement cover.
The remaining two depend on how you drive. Windscreen cover pays for itself quickly on a daily highway commute, and personal accident cover matters most if you regularly carry passengers.
A comprehensive BMW policy covers accident damage, third-party liability, fire and theft as standard. It does not cover wear, mechanical failure or anything that happens while the car is being driven illegally. The table below is the standard position in the UAE market; your own policy schedule is the final word.
| Covered as standard | Not covered |
|---|---|
| Accident repairs at an approved workshop | Wear and tear on tyres, brakes and clutches |
| Third-party injury and property damage | Mechanical or electrical breakdown in normal use |
| Fire, explosion and theft | Damage while driving without a valid licence |
| Vandalism and malicious damage | Repairs done without the insurer's approval |
| Storm and flood damage, where the add-on is bought | Off-road and unpaved-surface damage |
| Emergency towing, where the add-on is bought | Racing, track use and timed events |
The exclusion that catches BMW owners most often is mechanical breakdown. A gearbox or turbo failure in normal use is a maintenance cost, not an insurance claim, unless you have bought mechanical breakdown cover as an extension. The same logic applies across the premium segment, as our guide to luxury car insurance in the UAE sets out.
Car insurance for a BMW is priced on six factors more than any others. Nothing on this list is unique to BMW; what is unique to BMW is how much each one is worth in dirhams, because the repair cost behind every risk calculation is higher.
Three of those are worth reading up on before you buy. There is a fuller breakdown of what affects a car insurance premium, a separate guide to car insurance excess and, if you have moved emirate, a dedicated page for car insurance in Abu Dhabi.
On third-party cover for a BMW, the widest gap between the cheapest and dearest quote on the same car in our data was AED 93.00. On comprehensive cover it was AED 189.57. That tells you where to spend your effort: switching insurer saves less than getting the structure of the policy right.
The four changes that move the number meaningfully are keeping your no-claims record intact, raising the voluntary excess, dropping from comprehensive to third party once the car's value no longer justifies it, and fitting an approved tracker. Protecting your no-claims bonus is the largest single lever of the four, and it compounds every year you do not claim.
After that, the only reliable saving is seeing every insurer's price at once rather than renewing on autopilot. Compare quotes from every insurer on Lookinsure before your current policy lapses, because a lapsed policy also costs you the no-claims discount you spent years building.
You can split any BMW policy bought through Lookinsure into four monthly payments at no added cost, with the policy issued as soon as the first payment clears. It is the difference between finding AED 1,300 in one go and finding AED 325 four times.
Both instalment routes work the same way at checkout, so pick whichever you already use: pay for car insurance with Tabby, or use Tamara. Neither charges interest, and neither changes the cover you selected.
Buying takes a few minutes and needs only your chassis number to start. Renewal follows exactly the same six steps, with your previous policy details pre-filled once you sign in.
Report the accident to the police before you do anything else. Without the police report, no UAE insurer will process a motor claim, whatever the policy says.
If this is your first claim, the full process from report to repair order is walked through step by step in our guide to how to claim on a car insurance policy.
Four documents are mandatory in every case and two more apply in specific situations. Have them ready as files before you start, and the whole purchase takes minutes rather than days.
The general requirements, including what changes for a newly arrived resident, are listed in our guide to the documents required for car insurance.
