RAK car insurance is motor cover from Ras Al Khaimah National Insurance Company, a UAE insurer founded in 1974 and regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE. It sells comprehensive and third-party policies with unlimited third-party bodily injury liability, agency repairs up to 25 months, and a free 13th month of cover on claim-free renewal.
Through Lookinsure you can compare car insurance quotes online from RAK alongside other UAE insurers, review the benefits side by side, and buy in minutes.
Drivers searching for RAK insurance car cover usually want three things quickly: what it covers, what it costs, and how to reach the company when something goes wrong. This page answers all three, starting with the numbers you need in an emergency.
RAK Insurance runs two separate lines. Roadside assistance is staffed 24/7 on 600 575 751 and covers the UAE and Oman. Policy, quote and claim enquiries go to 800 RAKI (800 7254), which operates Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm. Save the first number before you need it — the RAK insurance roadside assistance line is the one that answers at 3am.
Roadside recovery is included as standard on both comprehensive and third-party policies rather than sold as an extra, which is unusual at this price point — most UAE insurers charge for it or bundle it only with comprehensive. If you are weighing insurers on breakdown support specifically, our guide to roadside assistance cover in car insurance explains what the benefit should include.
RAK comprehensive cover starts at around AED 1,829 and third-party at around AED 1,020 for a 2021 Toyota Corolla valued at AED 43,000, verified in September 2026. As a rule of thumb, comprehensive premiums in this comparison land between 4.6% and 5.5% of the insurer's declared vehicle value per year — RAK's quote works out at exactly 5.0%. Third-party premiums are flat-rated instead and do not scale with the car's value.
That formula is the fastest way to sanity-check any UAE motor quote: multiply the declared value by roughly 0.05, then add the cost of any optional covers and 5% VAT. A comprehensive quote far outside that band is either loaded for driver risk or priced against a different declared value.
Third-party car insurance is often chosen by drivers looking for the lowest practical legal cover. Liability limits, roadside support and personal accident benefits can matter as much as the premium itself — RAK is the most expensive of the three here, and also the only one offering unlimited bodily injury liability with roadside recovery included rather than sold separately.

RAK car insurance is the motor product line of Ras Al Khaimah National Insurance Company (RAK Insurance), listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and registered with the Central Bank of the UAE. It has operated since 1974 from a head office in Ras Al Khaimah, with branches in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and RAK Nakheel.
RAK Insurance is not RAKBANK. The two are separate businesses that share a name and a building — RAK Insurance's head office sits inside RAKBANK's headquarters in Ras Al Khaimah. If you are looking for vehicle finance, that is RAKBANK; if you are looking for a motor policy, that is RAK Insurance.
Yes — if you drive a 4x4, cross into Oman or the wider GCC, or own a car still inside its first two years. RAK is not the cheapest insurer in this comparison and does not try to be. It charges roughly 9% more than Adamjee for comprehensive cover and 40% more than DNI for third-party, and in exchange gives you unlimited third-party bodily injury liability, off-road cover as standard on eligible 4x4s, GCC own-damage cover, and 24/7 roadside recovery on both policy types.
If your priority is the lowest possible premium on a small commuter car that never leaves the UAE, buy DNI third-party or Adamjee comprehensive instead. The RAK premium only pays for itself if you actually use the benefits it is charging you for.
Searches for RAK motor insurance reviews usually surface two recurring points, and both are visible in the policy wording rather than in opinion: the liability limits are genuinely at the top of the UAE market, and the claims line is weekday office hours only, which is a real limitation if you need policy support at a weekend. The roadside number runs 24/7; the claims desk does not.
Before comparing insurers, decide whether you need only the mandatory liability protection required by the Unified Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy, or broader protection for your own vehicle as well. RAK's comprehensive car insurance costs 79% more than its third-party policy on the same vehicle, and that gap buys own-damage, fire, theft, windscreen and off-road cover.

Comprehensive cover should be compared on total protection, not premium alone. RAK's AED 1,829.25 sits AED 154 above Adamjee and AED 129 above DNI — a 9% premium that buys materially higher liability caps, off-road cover, GCC own-damage protection and a free 13th month on renewal.

Family / passenger protection | Passenger and family PAB | RAK or DNI |
Everyday-value comprehensive cover | Price vs practical benefits | Adamjee |
Free retention benefit | Free 13th month on renewal | RAK Insurance — unique |
RAK's headline benefits cluster around three things: liability limits, repair quality and driving outside the UAE. Several of them are worth understanding in detail — the windscreen insurance cover is unlimited with no deductible and does not affect your no claim discount, the car key replacement cover pays up to AED 5,000, and 4x4 car insurance buyers get off-road cover as standard rather than as a paid extra.
Benefit / add-on | What it means | Availability |
Third-party liability — bodily injury | Covers injury or death caused to others — unlimited | TPL & comprehensive |
Third-party property damage | Covers damage to another vehicle or property — up to AED 3.5M under comprehensive or AED 2M under TPL | TPL & comprehensive |
Own damage cover | Covers damage to the insured vehicle | Comprehensive only |
Personal accident — driver | Financial protection for the driver — up to AED 50,000 personal bodily injury | Comprehensive included / TPL optional |
Personal accident — passenger | Covers passengers injured during an accident | Comprehensive included / TPL optional |

Ambulance services | National ambulance service coverage — up to AED 6,770 per person | TPL & comprehensive |
Replacement vehicle | Optional hire car benefit for 5, 7, 10 or 15 days | Optional add-on |

Agency repair | Repairs at manufacturer-authorised dealers — up to 25 months from first registration, subject to no claims | Comprehensive |
Dyna Trade repair | Repairs at Dyna Trade authorised outlets — 3rd-year option | Comprehensive |
Premium garage repair | Repairs at premium garages with new-for-old parts — 3rd to 5th year option | Comprehensive |
GCC cover | Own-damage cover for Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait with Orange Card purchase — maximum 30 days per trip, 90 days per 12 months | Comprehensive |
Orange Card | Third-party liability cover for Oman | Optional add-on |
Strike, riot & civil commotion | Extended coverage for SRCC events, with additional premium | Optional add-on |
No claim discount | 5% premium return on renewal for claim-free years | Comprehensive only |
Free 13th month insurance | One additional month of coverage free on renewal, subject to no claims | Comprehensive only |
Nationwide UAE coverage | Insurance protection across all UAE emirates | TPL & comprehensive |
Two benefits are worth singling out. The free 13th month is worth roughly AED 152 on a comprehensive policy at this price, on top of the 5% no claim discount — a combined retention benefit of about AED 244 that no other insurer in this comparison offers. And if you regularly drive across the border, personal accident cover plus an Orange Card turns a UAE-only policy into GCC-wide protection; our guide to driving to Oman from the UAE covers the paperwork.
Like all UAE motor policies issued under the Unified Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy, RAK Insurance applies exclusions that depend on the policy wording and coverage type. Wear and tear is the one that surprises drivers most often — no motor policy in the UAE covers it, which is why mechanical breakdown cover is sold separately.
Common exclusion area | What it means |
Driving without a valid licence | Claims may be rejected if the driver is not legally licensed or is driving with an expired or suspended licence |
Driving under the influence | Accidents involving alcohol, narcotics or drugs affecting driver control are typically excluded |
Using the vehicle for unauthorised purposes | Claims may not be covered if the car is used for purposes different from those declared in the policy |
Racing or speed testing | Damage caused during racing, speed tests or similar activities is generally excluded |
Mechanical or electrical breakdown | Wear and tear, mechanical failure or electrical breakdown are not covered |
Tyre damage only | Tyre damage alone may not be covered unless it occurs alongside insured vehicle damage |
Overloading the vehicle | Claims may be rejected if overloading or excess passengers directly caused the accident |
Outside UAE geographical limits | Coverage does not apply outside the UAE unless a GCC extension or Orange Card is added, subject to trip limits of 30 days per trip and 90 days per 12 months |
Natural disasters under TPL | Third-party policies exclude floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanoes and similar natural disasters |
War, invasion, hostilities, civil war | Damage related to war, foreign enemy action or warlike operations is excluded |
Strike, riot, civil commotion | Excluded unless the SRCC extension is purchased with additional premium |
Nuclear risks | Ionising radiation, radioactive contamination, nuclear fuel or atomic explosions are excluded |
Confiscation, commandeering, requisition | Loss from permanent or temporary dispossession by lawfully constituted authorities is excluded |
Own vehicle damage under TPL | Third-party insurance does not cover damage to the insured vehicle itself |
Off-road driving for non-4x4 vehicles | Off-road damage is only covered for eligible 4x4 vehicles, excluding safari activities |
Employee or work-related injuries | Injuries to employees during work are excluded unless additional coverage is obtained under a rider or separate policy |
Intentional legal violations | Claims involving deliberate criminal acts or intentional law violations may be rejected |
Loss of insurer recovery rights | Claims may be denied if the insured falsely accepts responsibility and prevents the insurer from recovering losses from the actual liable party |
Required documents vary depending on insurer checks, vehicle specifications and policy type. Additional documents may be requested to confirm off-road cover eligibility or a GCC extension.
RAK car insurance renewal online takes about five minutes through Lookinsure, and renewing on time protects both the 5% no claim discount and the free 13th month — both are forfeited if the policy lapses or a claim is made during the year.
Eligible RAK quotes bought through Lookinsure support instalment payment through credit card plans or buy-now-pay-later services. Splitting a comprehensive premium into four brings the first payment down from AED 1,829 to about AED 457, and the policy activates as soon as that first payment clears rather than when the final one does.
Policy type | Total premium — estimate | First payment — 4 instalments | Remaining payments |
RAK third-party insurance | AED 1,020 | Approx. AED 255 | 3 payments of approx. AED 255 |
RAK comprehensive insurance | AED 1,829 | Approx. AED 457 | 3 payments of approx. AED 457 |
Both options work the same way at checkout — see car insurance with Tabby and car insurance with Tamara for the eligibility rules and payment schedules.
Start a RAK insurance motor claim by calling 800 RAKI (7254) during working hours, or 600 575 751 for 24/7 roadside support if the car needs recovering first. A police report is mandatory before any accident claim can be registered — without it the claim cannot proceed, regardless of fault. After approval, the claim moves through workshop inspection, document verification, repair authorisation and vehicle collection.
Submitting a claim does not mean liability has been accepted. Final approval depends on policy terms, submitted documents, accident circumstances and the claim assessment. Windscreen claims are the exception worth knowing: they do not affect your no claim discount.
RAK assigns repairs by vehicle age rather than by driver preference, and you cannot choose your own garage unless the policy allows a cash settlement. Always wait for claim approval and garage assignment before taking the car anywhere — a repair started without authorisation may not be reimbursed.
Repair type | Eligibility | Key features |
Agency repairs | Up to 25 months from first registration, subject to no claims | Repairs at manufacturer-authorised dealers within the UAE |
Dyna Trade repairs | 3rd year from first registration | Repairs at Dyna Trade authorised outlets |
Premium garage repairs | 3rd to 5th year from first registration | New-for-old parts through the premium garage network |
The approved workshops span Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, and the network changes as RAK adds and removes partners. For the current addresses and phone numbers, see our full RAK insurance garage list, or compare networks across insurers in the wider UAE insurance garage list.
RAK Insurance operates from four locations across three emirates. The RAK Insurance Dubai office in Oud Metha and the Abu Dhabi office on Hamdan Street handle walk-in policy and claims support during weekday office hours; if you are comparing local options in the capital, our car insurance in Abu Dhabi page covers the market there.
You do not need to visit a branch to buy or renew. Compare RAK against every other insurer on the market and get a car insurance quote online in a few minutes.
