Orient car insurance is motor cover underwritten in the UAE by Orient Insurance PJSC, a Dubai-based insurer established in 1982 and part of the Al-Futtaim Group. It is sold in two forms — comprehensive and third-party liability — and both are regulated under the Central Bank of the UAE's Unified Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy, which sets the minimum terms every UAE motor policy must meet.

Orient, Oriental or Orient Takaful — which one are you looking at?

Three similarly named insurers operate in the UAE motor market, and searches confuse them constantly. This page covers Orient Insurance PJSC only. If your existing policy or renewal notice says Oriental, you are with a different underwriter and should compare Oriental car insurance instead. Orient Takaful is a separate Sharia-compliant entity covered further down this page.

Is Orient car insurance right for you?

Choose Orient if you want a financially strong insurer with convenience benefits built into the base comprehensive plan, and you are willing to pay above the cheapest quote for them. Choose elsewhere if premium is your only decision criterion — Orient was the most expensive comprehensive quote in the comparison further down this page.

Orient may suit you if you want:

Orient comprehensive vs third-party car insurance

Take comprehensive if your car is financed, under roughly five years old, or worth more than AED 30,000 to replace — third-party pays nothing towards your own vehicle. Take third-party only if the car's market value is low enough that you would absorb a total loss yourself.

Best forDrivers seeking broader protection and added benefitsDrivers who need the legal minimum at the lowest premium

If you are still weighing the two cover types generally rather than for Orient specifically, our guides to comprehensive car insurance and third-party car insurance set out what each one legally has to include in the UAE.

Orient vs Sukoon vs Methaq: third-party motor insurance prices

Orient's third-party premium was AED 1,120 when these quotes were pulled, and it buys the narrowest benefit set of the three. Sukoon costs less and includes personal accident cover, ambulance services and roadside assistance that Orient's third-party plan does not.

Read the vehicle column before reading the price column. These are three separate live quotes on two different vehicles, not a like-for-like comparison on one car — a third-party premium moves with vehicle value, driver age and claims history, so treat the figures as a benefits comparison with indicative pricing attached.

Best fitDrivers who want an unlimited bodily-injury limit from a mainstream insurerDrivers who want stronger third-party benefits at a lower premiumDrivers who want Takaful positioning plus roadside support

On benefits alone, Sukoon car insurance is the stronger third-party plan here, and Methaq car insurance sits between the two. Orient's advantage is the unlimited bodily-injury limit rather than the extras.

Orient vs Methaq vs Fidelity United: comprehensive motor insurance prices

Orient was the most expensive comprehensive quote of the three, at AED 2,463.72 against AED 1,600 for Fidelity United — a difference of AED 863.72 a year, or about 54% more. Whether that gap is worth paying depends on how many of Orient's bundled benefits you would otherwise buy as add-ons.

All three quotes are for the same vehicle: a 2024 Nissan Altima insured at AED 83,800. That puts the comprehensive premiums on this page between 1.9% and 2.9% of insured value — a useful sanity check when you compare any Orient insurance price list against a rival quote.

Fidelity United car insurance was the cheapest comprehensive quote of the three when these figures were verified in August 2026. Premiums move with vehicle value, driver age, claims history and renewal timing, so check what affects a car insurance premium in the UAE before assuming the same ranking applies to your car.

Which insurer should you choose: Orient, Sukoon, Methaq or Fidelity United?

Our Orient car insurance review comes down to a single trade-off: you are paying roughly AED 860 more a year than the cheapest comprehensive quote here, and in exchange you get the highest third-party property damage limit (AED 3,500,000), included roadside assistance, a windscreen excess waiver, off-road cover and an Oman extension without buying any of them as add-ons.

Pay it if you drive off-road, cross into Oman, or would buy roadside assistance and windscreen cover anyway. Do not pay it if your car stays on Dubai and Abu Dhabi tarmac and you would decline every add-on — Fidelity United gives you the same core comprehensive protection for AED 863.72 less.

Premiums and benefit sets change between renewal cycles, so run your own vehicle through the quote engine rather than assuming these figures still hold. You can compare car insurance Dubai quotes online from Orient and the insurers above in one place.

Orient car insurance benefits that may justify the premium

Orient's case for a higher premium rests on what its Motor Plus comprehensive plans include as standard rather than on any single headline feature.

BenefitWhy it matters
AM Best rating of A (Excellent)Independent confirmation of the insurer's ability to pay claims, affirmed 8 July 2026
Flood and storm protectionRelevant after the heavy-rainfall events UAE drivers have seen in recent years
Riot and strike protectionExtends cover beyond collision damage
Emergency medical expensesUp to AED 3,500 of post-accident medical support
Windscreen excess waiverYou pay no deductible on a glass claim — the most frequent small claim on UAE roads
Roadside assistanceIncluded rather than charged as an add-on
Oman extensionCovers damage to your own vehicle across the border on selected plans
Off-road cover for 4WD vehiclesStandard exclusions on most UAE policies void off-road damage claims
Personal effects coverAdds protection for belongings inside the vehicle
Valet parking coverCovers damage or theft while the car is in valet custody

Two of these are worth pricing individually before you decide. A standalone windscreen insurance cover add-on and separate car flood insurance both carry a cost with most insurers, so add what you would have paid for them to the cheaper quote before comparing it with Orient.

Weather damage is the benefit UAE drivers ask about most. Our guide to insurance for rain-damaged vehicles explains what a flood or storm claim actually requires, whichever insurer you end up with.

Orient Orange Card: driving to Oman and across the GCC

An Orient comprehensive policy's Oman extension covers damage to your own vehicle across the border. It does not, on its own, satisfy Oman's requirement for third-party liability cover — that is what the Orange Card is for.

The Orange Card is the unified motor insurance certificate recognised across GCC and Arab League states. It is issued separately from your UAE policy, is checked at the border, and is what lets a claim against you be settled locally in Oman. Ask Orient for it before you travel rather than at the crossing.

QuestionAnswer
Does the Oman extension cover my own car?Yes, on selected Orient comprehensive plans
Does it cover my liability to others in Oman? Not by itself — you need an Orange Card
Is the Orange Card part of the premium?Usually issued separately, on request
Does third-party car insurance include it?No — the geographical area on a UAE third-party plan is the UAE only

If you are planning the trip, our guide on how to get an Orange Card for Oman covers the documents, the cost and where to request it.

Orient Takaful vs Orient Insurance: which one is your policy?

They are two different underwriters. Orient Insurance PJSC writes conventional motor insurance; Orient Takaful is a Sharia-compliant takaful operator within the same group, and its motor products are contributed to and settled under takaful principles rather than a conventional insurance contract.

This matters at three points: the wording on your certificate, whether surplus is distributed back to participants, and where an Orient Takaful car insurance renewal notice should be sent. If your renewal document names Orient Takaful rather than Orient Insurance PJSC, quote the takaful entity when you request a comparison — the two are priced separately.

What is not covered under Orient car insurance?

Every UAE motor policy carries the exclusions set out in the Unified Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy, and Orient is no exception. The list below applies to comprehensive and third-party plans alike unless your schedule adds the cover back.

Common exclusionWhat it means
Accidents outside the UAENot covered unless the policy carries an approved geographical extension such as Oman, and an Orange Card for third-party liability
Floods, earthquakes and other natural disastersExcluded under the standard policy wording. Orient's Motor Plus comprehensive plans list natural calamities as an included benefit, which overrides this exclusion — check that the benefit is named on your issued schedule before you rely on it
War and political disturbancesWar, invasion, civil war, rebellion, revolution, riots, strikes, mutiny and civil unrest are excluded. Orient lists riot and strike protection as a Motor Plus benefit — again, confirm it appears on your schedule
Nuclear and radioactive risksDamage from radioactive contamination, nuclear fuel or atomic explosion is never covered
Work-related injuriesInjury to the driver, employees or workers arising from work activity generally needs separate employer liability cover
Driver and passenger injury without an add-onPersonal accident protection applies only if the optional cover was purchased
Driving under the influence or without a valid licenceExcluded under the Unified Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy regardless of insurer

Where a benefit and an exclusion appear to contradict each other, the issued policy schedule wins. Read it before you buy, not after a claim.

Documents required to buy Orient car insurance

You can complete an Orient purchase online in a few minutes if you have three documents ready: Emirates ID, driving licence and vehicle registration.

SituationDocuments usually required
Existing or used carEmirates ID, driving licence, vehicle registration (Mulkiya), previous insurance details if available
New car purchaseEmirates ID, driving licence, showroom quotation or vehicle details
Additional underwriting requirementsVehicle photos, no-claims certificate, or supporting documents if requested

The no-claims certificate is the one worth chasing early. It is issued by your previous insurer and can cut a renewal premium significantly — our guide to the no-claims bonus certificate explains how to request one and how long it stays valid.

Pay Orient car insurance in installments

Eligible customers can split an Orient premium into four payments at checkout, with the first paid on the day and three monthly installments after it.

Policy priceFirst payment todayRemaining payments
AED 1,120 (2024 GMC Sierra, third-party)AED 2803 × AED 280
AED 2,463.72 (2024 Nissan Altima, comprehensive)AED 615.933 × AED 615.93

Choose car insurance with Tabby or car insurance with Tamara during checkout. Availability, approval and the installment schedule depend on checkout eligibility and the payment provider.

How Orient car insurance claims work

Get the police report first. No UAE motor claim, at Orient or anywhere else, proceeds without one, and repairing the car before the insurer authorises it is the most common reason a claim is reduced or rejected.

SituationWhat to do
You have comprehensive insuranceObtain the police report, notify Orient, then follow the approved repair process
You have third-party insuranceThird-party damage is handled under the policy; damage to your own car is not covered
Another driver caused the accidentUse the police report and claim through the at-fault driver's insurer
You bought through LookinsureLookinsure can guide you through the next steps

Which Orient number to call

Orient runs separate lines for sales, claims and roadside assistance, and calling the wrong one is the usual cause of delay.

You needContact

Timelines, required forms and what happens after the assessment are the same across UAE insurers. Our walkthrough of a car accident insurance claim in the UAE covers the sequence in full.

Orient repair network: what to know before repair

Do not authorise any repair before Orient approves it. Repair routing, deductible and whether agency repair applies are all set by your issued policy, not by the garage.

Common questionWhat to know
Can I choose any garage?Repair routing depends on policy terms and insurer approval
Is agency repair available?May be available depending on vehicle age and selected plan
Are repair benefits included in comprehensive plans?Selected comprehensive plans include dealer or agency repair benefits
Should I repair the car before approval? No. Follow the insurer's claim instructions first

How to renew Orient car insurance online with Lookinsure

An Orient insurance renewal takes five steps on Lookinsure, and renewing through a comparison rather than accepting the notice means you see whether the price is still competitive before you pay it.

  1. Visit the Lookinsure homepage
  2. Click "Get quote"
  3. Choose "Renew"
  4. Enter vehicle information by chassis number or manually
  5. Compare quotes and take your pick

Renewal is also the moment your no-claims record is worth the most. If you would rather see the whole market before you renew online, start by choosing to buy car insurance online in the UAE and filter to Orient from there.

Frequently asked questions

Orient Insurance PJSC is a Dubai-based insurer established in 1982 and part of the Al-Futtaim Group. It offers comprehensive and third-party motor insurance across all seven emirates. AM Best affirmed its Financial Strength Rating at A (Excellent) with a stable outlook on 8 July 2026, and its comprehensive Motor Plus plans bundle roadside assistance, windscreen and off-road cover.

Orient quoted AED 2,463.72 for comprehensive cover on a 2024 Nissan Altima insured at AED 83,800, and AED 1,120 for third-party cover on a 2024 GMC Sierra, verified in August 2026. Comprehensive premiums in the UAE generally run between 1.9% and 2.9% of the insured value, so use that band to sanity-check any quote you receive.

Get the police report first, then notify Orient before any repair begins. Call the toll-free line on 800 ORIENT (800 674368) or the head office on +971 4 253 1300, and send supporting documents to [email protected]. Repairing the vehicle before Orient authorises the work is the most common reason a UAE motor claim is reduced or rejected.

Selected Orient comprehensive plans extend to Oman for damage to your own vehicle. That extension does not cover your liability to other people in Oman — for that you need an Orange Card, the unified motor certificate recognised across GCC and Arab League states. Request it from Orient before you travel rather than at the border crossing.

No. Orient Insurance PJSC writes conventional motor insurance, while Orient Takaful is a separate Sharia-compliant operator within the same group. Their motor products are priced and settled separately. Check which entity your certificate or renewal notice names, and quote that entity when you ask for a comparison, because the two do not share pricing.

Open the Lookinsure homepage, click "Get quote", choose "Renew", then enter your vehicle details by chassis number or manually and compare the available quotes. Renewing through a comparison rather than accepting the renewal notice shows whether Orient is still competitive for your car before you pay, and lets you apply your no-claims discount.

Orient Insurance can be reached on WhatsApp at +971 800 674368. The same number works as the toll-free voice line, 800 ORIENT (800 674368), for general customer care. The Dubai head office line is +971 4 253 1300, and written enquiries or claim documents go to [email protected].

Orient's approved network includes Advance Auto Repairing and Autozone Motors in Dubai, Al Amana and Hussain Al Hamadi in Sharjah, Bright Moon in Abu Dhabi, Al Rali Garage in Ras Al Khaimah and Al Shaji in Fujairah. Approved networks differ by insurer, so confirm the garage handles Orient claims before booking any repair.
